Alive! is an online lifestyle program delivered via the web and email. It has been PROVEN effective in helping people create healthy lifestyle changes. The Alive! program is designed to uniquely reflect your eating and physical activity habits and the way you live.
How does it work?
After completing a short questionnaire online, you will receive immediate feedback about your diet and physical activity. You then decide whether or not to join the Alive! program.
When join the Alive! program, you first choose a Big Goal to work on over the next 12 weeks:
Each week Alive! will send suggested goals for you to work on for the next week, that are personalized to your current diet, physical activity, and lifestyle. Through doing small, achievable steps, you move gradually to your target of improved diet and activity. After selecting your weekly goal, you are automatically taken to a personalized web page that provides you with the tips and tools you need to accomplish your goals.
After each 12-week period, you will complete a short questionnaire online to see how well you are doing and to customize the best steps for you to work on next. You may choose to work on one of the other Big Goals, or continue working on the same one. Thus, you can improve all three of these health behaviors in about nine months.
The Alive! Trial for people 50 and older.
We are recruiting participants. This is your opportunity to contribute to research on helping people to have a healthier life. The Alive! program has been proven effective in improving physical activity and eating habits in the general population. Your participation in the the UC Alive! trial will ensure that Alive! is an effective tool for people 50 and older.
Participants in the trial will be randomized (like flipping a coin) into one of three groups:
Participants will have the opportunity to pursue all three topics over 36 weeks.
